Counselor Position Overview

SUNY Broome Community College seeks a dedicated and experienced Counselor to join its Counseling Services Department. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related area, as well as two years of experience in an educational institution, public agency, or industry in the area of counseling.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Counsel students in the areas of mental health and psychosocial matters
  • Provide short-term therapy, risk assessment, crisis counseling/response, small group counseling, and wellness programs
  • Support faculty and staff in matters related to students
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related area
  • Two years of experience in an educational institution, public agency, or industry in the area of counseling
  • Professional license in a related mental health field
  • Eligibility to work in the State of New York
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience providing counseling to under-represented and multi-cultural populations
  • Ability to work in a student-centered environment
