Job Title: Environmental Enforcement Technician I

Join the City of New Orleans, LA team as an Environmental Enforcement Technician I. This role is responsible for conducting investigations, inspections, and control of water quality factors in the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct investigations and inspections to identify and address water quality issues
  • Collect and analyze data to determine the cause of water quality problems
  • Develop and implement plans to mitigate water quality issues
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with regulations and standards
  • Provide technical assistance and training to other staff members
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED issued by a state Department of Education
  • Permanent status with the City of New Orleans and two (2) years of engineering experience at the level of Drafting Technician and/or Engineering Assistant
  • A minimum of sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited college or university with at least sixteen (16) hours in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or closely related courses, plus a minimum of three (3) semester hours in mathematics
  • Two (2) years of full-time experience in the field of water treatment, waste treatment or environmental compliance inspection of storm water/waste water discharges with a municipality parish, county or other recognized jurisdiction, including private water or waste water operating companies
