About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will play a critical role in assessing and treating individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring they receive the best possible care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations to determine the level of receptive and expressive speech and language skills, swallowing skills, and social/pragmatic skills in individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Develop, modify, and implement individual and group therapy/treatment programs to enhance communication, address swallowing deficiencies, and prevent asphyxiation.
  • Design and deliver speech, language, and dysphagia management services, including hearing screenings, for individuals and groups.
  • Provide in-service training to other staff on speech-language techniques and protocols to be used in carrying out individual and group communication and/or swallowing treatments/therapy.
  • Act as a sign language interpreter as necessary and participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide professional insight and goal planning for treatment and care of individuals.
  • Counsel and inform guardians/family members regarding speech-language, hearing, and/or swallowing issues.
  • Compose and complete reports, lesson plans, and other program-related documents necessary to implement, modify, and track progress of treatment/therapy programs for individuals and/or groups.

Requirements
  • Licensure as a speech-language pathologist in the state of Ohio, per Section of the Revised Code.
  • Biennial renewal of licensure as a speech-language pathologist as mandated by Section of the Revised Code.
