Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Food Service Director, Executive Chef, Production Manager, or Shift Supervisor.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. A customer-focused attitude and enjoyment of the food service industry are essential.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in various food preparation tasks, including the preparation of cold dishes, washing, peeling, and cutting fruits and vegetables, as well as slicing meats and mixing salad ingredients.
  • Notify supervisors of any equipment malfunctions and shortages of food or supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, utensils, and dining spaces.
  • Transport food supplies and equipment between storage and work areas; organize cupboards and refrigerators, and manage salad bars and buffet setups.
  • Support cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks and assist in serving during meal times.
  • Receive and properly store food supplies and equipment in designated areas.
  • Monitor and record food temperatures and the conditions of storage areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and uphold confidentiality regarding proprietary information.
  • Adhere to quality standards and HACCP guidelines.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

The candidate must be reliable and dependable, capable of performing physical tasks that involve lifting, balancing, walking, and handling materials. Building and maintaining positive working relationships is crucial. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, follow instructions, and operate manual or electric appliances is required. Basic math and reading skills, along with some computer proficiency, are also necessary.

Work Schedule

This position may involve mid or night shifts, available in both full-time and part-time capacities. Flexibility is required, with potential hours spanning from morning to evening. Responsibilities will be conducted under the guidance of the lead cook and Food Service Director. Most federal holidays are observed, and seasonal breaks are provided.
