Facilities Maintenance Engineer

This is a skilled mechanical and electrical position responsible for the maintenance, installation, diagnosis, and repair of air conditioning, heating, and ventilating systems for commercial office buildings. The HVAC journeyman is responsible for the safe, efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all equipment and building systems, with a focus on minimizing downtime during their shift.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs maintenance and service repairs on building mechanical and HVAC systems
Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines
Operates, maintains, and adjusts all building equipment, including boilers, pumps, HVAC units, lighting, and power equipment
Performs preventative maintenance as assigned
Minor plumbing repair
Maintains accurate and timely paperwork
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Follows all safety practices and adheres to all safety-related policies
Provides accurate and timely communications to the Lead Engineer
Responds to emergency calls
Demonstrates initiative in assignments and maintains positive customer relations
Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent
Minimum of 7 years of actual, practical working experience in the HVAC or mechanical equipment service and maintenance industry
HVAC journeyman active license
Universal CFC certification
Ability to troubleshoot HVAC and building controls and systems
Ability to perform general building maintenance
Experience with commercial/industrial equipment
Basic computer skills
Self-starter with ability to work independently
Ability to lift 50-75 lbs
Current driver's license and clean driving record
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. The employee is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment and the noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
