Co-op R&D Engineer

Fulton Group N.A. is a leading manufacturer of heating equipment with a strong presence in the market. Our company is located in Pulaski, NY, offering a convenient commute from Syracuse. The Co-op program at Fulton R&D provides engineering students with a unique opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team and gain hands-on experience in new product development, from conceptual design to release to production. Our R&D team covers various aspects of engineering, including vapor compression technology, electrical systems, heat transfer, combustion, and mechanical design.

Job Summary

The Co-op R&D Engineer will assist engineers in the development of new products, working as an integral part of a team to design, test, and release new products to market. The program duration can be between 3 to 9 months, starting in May 2025. Tasks will be dependent on current projects at the time of the Co-op. Familiarity with vapor compression systems is a plus. This is a position for a candidate looking for a role with a lot of learning potential.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD electrical
  • Fabrication of new test articles and fixtures
  • Laboratory testing of prototypes and research equipment
  • Design prototypes and test equipment
  • Improve designs from a mechanical and manufacturability perspective
  • Usage and operation of a wide variety of hand tools and instruments
  • Perform calculations and troubleshooting to work out potential modifications, design changes, or modifications to malfunctioning systems
Requirements
  • Full-time enrollment in a B.S. or M.S. Mechanical engineering program, with 2 years completed
  • Experience with 3D modeling programs such as Autodesk Inventor
  • Ability to work full-time hours during the co-op program
  • Strong communication, organizational, and independent judgment skills
  • Ability to work as a part of a team
Physical Requirements

Ability to operate a computer at a desk. Walking and standing are required occasionally.

Salary: $20 - $23 / hour
