Co-Op / Intern R&D Engineer HVAC-R

Fulton Group N.A. is a multinational heating equipment manufacturer with market leading products. The company is located in Pulaski, NY which is a short commute from Syracuse, just 30min from the 481-81 interchange.The Co-op program at Fulton R&D is a great opportunity for engineering students to work with a multidisciplinary team and gain experience in new product development from conceptual design to release to production. R&D at Fulton touches many aspects of engineering including vapor compression technology, electrical systems, heat transfer, combustion and mechanical design.R&D Engineer- Co-op is responsible for assisting engineers in the development of new products. The Co-op engineers will need to work as an integral part of a team with the ultimate goal of designing, testing, and releasing new products to market.The program duration can be between 3 to 9 months starting in May 2025. Tasks will be dependent on current projects at the time of the Co-op. Familiarity with vapor compression systems a plus. The position does not involve repetitive tasks, this is a position for a candidate that is looking for a position with a lot of learning potential.ACCOUNTABILITIES: Prepare detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD electricalFabrication of new test articles and fixturesLaboratory testing of prototypes and research equipmentDesign prototypes and test equipmentImprove designs from a mechanical and manufacturability perspectiveUsage and operation of a wide variety of hand tools and instrumentsPerform calculations and troubleshooting to work out potential modifications, design changes, or modifications to malfunctioning systems. RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications and Required Experience): Fulltime enrollment in a B.S. or M.S. Mechanical engineering program, with 2 years completed.Experience with 3D modeling programs such as Autodesk InventorAbility to work fulltime hours during the co-op programStrong communication, organizational and independent judgment skillsAbility to work as a part of a team DEMONSTRATED CRITICAL COMPETENCIES: Communication - Ability to ensure information is passed on to others who should be kept informed. Ability to express oneself clearly in conversation and interaction with others. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to operate a computer at a desk. Walking and standing are required occasionally. Salary Description $20 - $23 / hour
