Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Resolution Attorney to join our team. The successful candidate will report to the managing attorney and be responsible for providing legal counsel on tax resolutions, including tax collections, audits, US Tax Court, and controversies with state tax and local authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal counsel on tax resolutions, including tax collections, audits, and controversies
  • Conduct tax research and writing, and develop tax planning strategies
  • Represent clients in US Tax Court and before state tax and local authorities
  • Collaborate with the managing attorney to develop and implement tax resolution strategies
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in tax resolution, with a focus on collection matters
  • United States Tax Court experience is strongly preferred
  • Candidates with tax preparation experience will be given stronger consideration
  • Representation experience before the Franchise Tax Board, CDTFA, and EDD is highly valued
  • Strong legal background in Tax Law, with a focus on tax regulations and compliance
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and remotely
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active Bar membership
