Wastewater Lift Station Specialist

Reports To:
Wastewater Manager

The Wastewater Lift Station Specialist will be accountable for operations in the designated service area, ensuring the efficient transfer of wastewater to treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities:


Conduct thorough inspections of assigned lift stations and pumping facilities to ensure optimal performance and efficiency through routine checks and minor repairs.

Remove inspection plates to verify that pumps are clear of obstructions. Lift manhole covers to ensure minimal accumulation in wet wells.

Ensure the safety, organization, and cleanliness of all lift stations.

Perform additional related tasks as required.

Tools and Equipment:
Must utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while executing tasks.


Proficient in using pump-related tools, electrical devices, pneumatic tools, chainsaws, shovels, rakes, face shields, gloves, and other necessary equipment.

Familiarity with diagnostic tools and the ability to test, calibrate, and repair complex machinery is essential.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Preferred Georgia Class III Wastewater Treatment Certification or higher.

Water Utility Management supports employees in obtaining necessary certifications.

A valid Georgia driver's license is required.

High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

A technical school diploma in a relevant field is preferred.

Experience in lift station operations and maintenance is advantageous.

Prior outdoor experience in roles such as construction or plumbing is beneficial for this position.

Ability to perform responsibilities independently with minimal oversight.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Understanding of safety regulations related to equipment maintenance and repair.

Familiarity with electrical systems, controls, and various components of water and wastewater equipment.

Knowledge of maintenance practices and techniques.

Basic mechanical skills in the effective use of hand tools and other equipment for maintenance and repair tasks.

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements:

The role necessitates the capacity to exert light to medium physical effort, engaging in activities that may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects of varying weights.

Responsibilities include the ability to operate a personal computer, drive a vehicle, and utilize various tools and equipment for inspecting and measuring lift station systems.


Environmental Considerations:

Essential functions are performed with frequent exposure to challenging environmental conditions, including weather elements, dust, debris, chemicals, and machinery associated with construction activities.
