Tobacco Prevention and Control Data Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Coordinator to join our Tobacco Prevention and Control Team at the Maine CDC. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the team's data needs, including US CDC grant applications, notice of award and annual performance reporting, evaluation reporting, and all other grant requirements and submissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Tobacco Program Manager with data tracking, analysis, communication, and findings.
  • Collaborate with the prevention services evaluation contracted provider to maintain a comprehensive surveillance and evaluation plan for the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program.
  • Participate in Tobacco Prevention and Control meetings and in developing, maintaining, and tracking progress of the strategic plan and ensuring alignment of program activities.
  • Review and analyze Tobacco Prevention and Control contracted providers' monthly reports.
  • Monitor and share monthly data with the Executive Management Team on utilization of Maine Quitlink services by MaineCare beneficiaries.
  • Plan and facilitate the e-cigarette workgroup and other workgroups as assigned.
  • Provide support for evaluation activities.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Public/Community Health, Health Administration, Health Sciences, or Health Education; Public Administration, Government, Social Work, or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) years professional experience in the planning, development, coordination, and/or evaluation of health programs or services.
  • Experience working within tobacco prevention or control.
  • An understanding of the US CDC tobacco prevention and control framework.
  • Experience working on federal grants.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Ability to interpret surveillance and evaluation findings.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Tableau and/or Power BI software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with SAS, SPSS, R, STATA, or other statistical software.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partners.
