Aircraft Avionics Technician Job Description

As an Aircraft Avionics Technician at Amentum, you will be responsible for adjusting, repairing, and replacing electrical wiring and aircraft system avionics. You will maintain and repair aircraft components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, and perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions.
  • Restore equipment condition and operation by applying required expertise.
  • Solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation, such as blueprints or manufacturers' manuals.
  • Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft and verify the work was performed satisfactorily.
  • Service engines and airframe components at line stations, making repairs short of overhaul to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
  • May specialize in work, repair, and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies.
  • May be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
  • Receive technical guidance from supervisors or higher-level technicians, and may lead teams through complex aircraft tasks.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems to ensure aircraft remains in safe operating condition.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of aircraft avionics systems, troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools.
  • Working knowledge of avionics systems, including maintenance parameters, systems operations, limitations, and technical orders.
  • Knowledge of military publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Valid up-to-date A&P license preferred but not required.
  • Must provide own tools/toolbox, with tools shadowed and PID etched in each tool.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred/Physical Qualifications:
  • Frequently lifts parts and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally lifts objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Work is performed in Aircraft maintenance hangar that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
