Job Summary:

The Audiologist functions as a member of the Otolaryngology healthcare team in the evaluation of hearing, performing numerous specialized diagnostic procedures. They coordinate and assess diagnostic data to determine the probable response of hearing loss to specific medical treatment. The Audiologist advises in the selection of, fits, and dispenses hearing aids. They participate as a resource in the counseling, guidance, auditory training, and education of patients. The Audiologist practices within the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and American Academy of Audiology code of ethics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate hearing and perform specialized diagnostic procedures
  • Coordinate and assess diagnostic data to determine the probable response of hearing loss to specific medical treatment
  • Advise in the selection, fitting, and dispensing of hearing aids
  • Participate in counseling, guidance, auditory training, and education of patients
  • Practice within the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and American Academy of Audiology code of ethics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training indicated by a Master of Science, Audiology
  • CCC/A certification by the American Speech and Hearing Association
  • Current Kentucky state licensure
  • State license (or eligible) to dispense hearing aids
  • Minimum two years broad clinical experience

Physical Guidelines:

  • Ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position, and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day
  • Manual dexterity
  • Articulate speech
  • Spatial/form perception
