Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Guidance
    • Provide strategic leadership and guidance on food safety and quality programs, including HACCP, Preventative Controls, SQF, and other BRC-related programs.
    • Develop and implement effective food safety and quality management systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure proper compliance with all regulatory requirements, including USDA-FSIS regulations and requirements for meat and poultry processing.
    • Identify and mitigate food safety and quality risks, and develop strategies to prevent and respond to potential issues.
  • Team Management
    • Lead, supervise, and coach a team of food safety and quality professionals, ensuring continuing professional development and training.
    • Develop and implement effective training programs to ensure all team members are knowledgeable and skilled in food safety and quality practices.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership, sales, marketing, and R&D teams.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective implementation of food safety and quality initiatives.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Graduate degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Biological Sciences, or closely related disciplines.
  • Experience
    • 5+ years of experience in a food manufacturing technical or senior management role, preferably in the meat and/or poultry processing industry.
    • Comprehensive knowledge and experience developing and managing HACCP, Preventative Controls, GMP, SSOP, SQF, and/or other BRC and customer-driven quality and food safety requirements and programs.
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Leadership and management skills.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of statistical process controls.
    • Confident public speaking skills.
Working Conditions
  • Office setting.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environment that is wet, very humid, and undergoes extreme temperature changes.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to perform extensive walking and standing for prolonged durations as needed.
