Overview

The Judge Group is a leader in the manufacturing sector, specializing in innovative injection molding solutions for various industries. As we expand our capabilities in battery production and recycling, we are seeking a dedicated Process Engineer to enhance our operational efficiency.

The role involves continuous evaluation and enhancement of injection molding and related processes. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement, advocating for necessary changes, and implementing strategies to streamline operations while minimizing manufacturing costs. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to achieve cost-effective packaging solutions, expedite tool repairs, and optimize mold setups. Success in this position will be measured by key performance indicators such as cycle time improvements, reduction in scrap rates, and effective training of process technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of injection molding and secondary processes, providing actionable recommendations to enhance efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Establish goals for cycle time reduction and lead initiatives aimed at achieving these objectives, thereby increasing production capacity.
  • Implement automation solutions in molding and material handling processes, utilizing advanced tooling and robotics to improve assembly line productivity.
  • Submit proposals for standard or method modifications through the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process to ensure alignment with current operational practices.
  • Collaborate with plant personnel and suppliers to resolve molding challenges, including issues related to part filling, dimensional accuracy, and color consistency.
  • Provide training and guidance to technicians on best practices for process control and troubleshooting, updating training materials as necessary.
  • Monitor production scrap and rework rates, working closely with technicians to eliminate waste caused by processing errors.
  • Assist in the sampling of parts as per established procedures and support the startup of production equipment following maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to all quality standards and safety protocols in the workplace.
  • Initiate requests for tool room work orders to facilitate mold enhancements addressing processing challenges.
  • Review setup and process change documentation during production runs, ensuring the use of the most current information and updating records as needed.
  • Complete assigned projects within established budgetary and timeline constraints.
  • This list of responsibilities may be adjusted as necessary to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in injection molding operations.
  • Proven leadership abilities and a commitment to employee development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills related to manufacturing engineering challenges.
  • Project management experience and the ability to lead teams effectively.
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Installation Qualification/Performance Qualification (IQ/PQ).
  • Six Sigma certification is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-driven with the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
