Job Summary: The Safety and Environmental Compliance Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the Corporate Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Safety Coordinator by overseeing and enhancing all initiatives, protocols, and procedures related to workplace safety, health standards, industrial hygiene, and facility maintenance. Key responsibilities include the initiation, management, and continuous improvement of established safety, ergonomic, and health programs. This role ensures that all personnel, including employees, supervisors, and management, are informed about and adhere to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing the safe operation of equipment and tools utilized in production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the ongoing refinement of plant safety programs, policies, and procedures, including safety committee activities, emergency response training, and necessary certifications.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable governmental regulations, including OSHA and NIOSH standards.
  • Coordinate regular monitoring and testing of workplace conditions, including air quality and noise levels, and maintain necessary health and safety records.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of workplace incidents and near misses, compiling detailed reports with root cause analyses and corrective action recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the safety team to perform routine safety audits and identify potential hazards, ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
  • Engage with employees to foster a culture of safety and collect feedback on safety practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of safety-related incidents and activities.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs for all manufacturing staff.
  • Work closely with the EPA/Safety Coordinator and safety team to promote proactive safety measures.
  • Participate in the formulation and execution of emergency response protocols.
  • Support environmental initiatives related to air quality, waste management, and hazardous materials.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Management, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience in safety, health, and environmental roles.
  • Familiarity with plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
