Join Our Team as an Emergency Veterinary Technician

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced Overnight Emergency + Critical Care department.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, working closely with our veterinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients, utilizing anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Triage emergency cases, obtaining vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
  • Perform digital radiography, using proper technique and positioning patients.
  • Have a complete understanding of normal patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting veterinarians to changes and issues.
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Properly calculate medical math, administering medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  • Mentor and train other coworkers, demonstrating patience and empathy when addressing client concerns.
