About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at the ASPCA. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to animals in need, working closely with our veterinarians and other staff members to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians with medical procedures, including surgeries, exams, and treatments
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of patient care, including medical history, treatment plans, and test results
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and other treatments as prescribed by veterinarians
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients, answering questions and addressing concerns in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow
Requirements
  • Current New York State Veterinary Technician License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)
  • Graduation from an accredited school of veterinary science technology (2 or 4 year program)
  • Excellent animal handling skills, with the ability to work with cats, dogs, and other small animals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, veterinarians, and other staff members
  • Ability to lift and carry 40-plus pounds repeatedly throughout the day with assistance
  • Ability to work standing for 8 or more hours
