JOB TITLE: Junior Cost Estimator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Vice President of Construction Sales

Position Overview:

As a Junior Cost Estimator, you will support the Estimating Team in various aspects related to commercial landscape construction projects. Your role will encompass a range of administrative responsibilities, alongside calculating project estimates. This may include collaborating with our internal service teams, assisting with project management, and ultimately ensuring the delivery of the solutions promised to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage daily with the Estimating Coordinator and other team members regarding daily tasks, required assistance, and any emerging issues.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in multi-tasking, organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Contribute to achieving personal and team sales revenue objectives by supporting sales initiatives.
  • Assist team members to ensure timely and efficient completion of deadlines on the Bid Calendar.
  • Help in the proper setup and organization of new estimating projects, including project folders, plan sets, and specifications.
  • Analyze and interpret Bid Documents to ensure comprehensive scope coverage through meticulous examination of all plans, specifications, RFIs, Bid Forms, and addenda.
  • Request material and subcontractor quotes as directed.
  • Ensure production rates in estimates align with departmental standards or directives.
  • Conduct onscreen take-offs using estimating software and update estimates as necessary per departmental standards.
  • Generate precise estimates based on detailed take-offs derived from landscape designs, including clear and concise annotations as needed.
  • Prepare all estimates for internal review two days prior to the bid submission date.
  • Support Project Managers by preparing job packets or undertaking other assigned tasks.
  • Possess knowledge of industry terminology and project sequencing as an advantage.
  • Exhibit a willingness to learn, be coachable, and pursue a career in the commercial landscape construction sector.
  • Collaborate with landscape construction team members to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.

Minimum Education or Training Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Familiarity with administrative and clerical procedures.
  • Proficiency in computer use and relevant software applications.
  • Understanding of customer service principles and practices.
  • Ability to operate a phone system.
  • Experience with data entry.
