Job Summary

Foundations for Living is seeking a skilled PHP Admissions Clinician II to join our team at Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health. As a key member of our admissions team, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the acute process, from initial inquiry to admissions, and facilitating group sessions on our PHP unit.

Responsibilities

Provides information on facility programs, admissions criteria, and referral application requirements to prospective patients and families.
Develops referral packets for review by the Admissions Committee, ensuring all necessary clinical information is included.
Facilitates psycho-educational groups to assist patients in achieving specific goals and promoting therapeutic growth.
Verifies administrative processes are complete prior to admission, including preparation of admission documents and securing immunization records.
Conducts clinical interviews with referral candidates as needed, assessing their suitability for our PHP program.
Fosters effective communication among staff members, patients, and families, promoting a collaborative and supportive environment.
Serves as a role model for patients, demonstrating socially effective values, attitudes, and behaviors.
Interprets facility policies and works collaboratively with the department to achieve organizational objectives.

Requirements

Master's degree in social science, such as counseling, psychology, or social work.
Demonstrated knowledge of current psychiatric diagnostic and treatment terminology, crisis intervention techniques, biopsychosocial assessments, and clinical interviews.
Experience in mental health counseling and crisis intervention counseling is strongly preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations.
Proficiency in the use of computer systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
