Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Albany Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Care team. As a Clinical Nurse I, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the growth and success of our program.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, coordinate, plan, direct, implement, and manage the needs of surgical patients throughout the episode of care, with a focus on progress toward discharge, including during transitions within the acute care stay.
- Act as the patient advocate during the surgical procedure, ensuring that patients receive high-quality, compassionate care.
- Implement physician orders, administer medications to the sterile field, and document as required by organizational policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered, applying sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
- Direct and guide ancillary personnel, maintaining standards of professional nursing and ensuring that competent, compassionate patient care is uniformly provided to customers.
- Graduate of a professional academic nursing program, with a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree preferred.
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Obtains and maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), with CNOR certification preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience in the surgical setting, with knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques.
