Automation and Controls Engineer

Join SpaceX, a pioneering company in the field of space exploration and development, as we seek a highly skilled Automation and Controls Engineer to join our Critical Infrastructure team.
Responsibilities:- Design, build, and activate advanced manufacturing facilities
- Develop and implement automated solutions for rapid R&D, production, and critical asset management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation and controls systems
- Participate in equipment conceptual development and balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
- Architect, write, and debug PLC code for manufacturing applications
- Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic, and fluid plumbing
- Select and size electrical and electromechanical components
- Deploy automated processes and equipment into production
- Set, implement, and maintain schedules and budgets to ensure project completion
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
- 1+ years of professional experience in automation and controls systems design and commissioning
- Knowledge of building automation systems for critical infrastructure
- Experience with mechanical (HVAC) controls and wiring, Delta controls, and process integration
- Electrical schematic CAD experience using EPlan
- Programming experience in C#, .NET, Python, and/or SQL
- PLC programming experience, preferably Siemens TIA Portal and Beckhoff TwinCat 3
- HMI and SCADA programming experience
- Field bus networks, serial communication, and Ethernet communication
- Hands-on experience building and commissioning high-quality electrical control panels and electro-mechanical systems
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, and UL508A codes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience in fast-paced iterative design and manufacturing environments
- Ability to solve complex problems with little to no supervision
- Willingness to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
- Willingness to travel to other locations
Competitive salary range: $100,000 - $135,000 per year
