Automation Controls Engineer Production

At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of what's possible in space exploration and development. As an Automation Controls Engineer Production, you'll play a critical role in helping us achieve our ambitious goals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation and controls engineering, with experience in designing, building, and commissioning automated systems for production tooling, machinery, and robotic cells. You'll work closely with our production team to identify areas for improvement and develop solutions to increase efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and commission automated systems for production tooling, machinery, and robotic cells
  • Work with the production team to identify areas for improvement and develop solutions to increase efficiency and productivity
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure they deliver high-quality, maintainable automated systems
  • Develop and implement PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming for automated systems
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 79, and UL508A codes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in automation and controls engineering
  • Experience with PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming
  • Experience with electrical schematic CAD software (EPlan, AutoCad, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of common manufacturing processes and machines

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with motion control, robotic programming, and/or work cell design
  • Hands-on experience building and commissioning high-quality electrical control panels and electro-mechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, and UL508A codes
  • Experience with P&ID, hydraulic, and pneumatic system design
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Beckhoff, and Siemens programming

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be open to working extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
