Job Summary:

As a Level Two Machinist at Saginaw Products Corporation, you will be responsible for evaluating product quality and identifying offsets or tooling adjustments needed for quality products. You will have a strong understanding of tool holders, types, and proper techniques for using them, as well as basic tooling such as inserts, drills, reamers, and end mills. You will be able to locate and upload programs for downloading to machines and turn, mill jaws for setup operations required for fixture needs. Additionally, you will have a basic understanding of blueprint reading, geometric tolerance interpretation, and G and M code. You will verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces using precision inspection tooling. You will also set up mills and lathes by installing chucks and vises and be able to indicate vises and chucks independently. Your ability to troubleshoot setups and tooling used in the manufacturing process will be essential. You will notify supervision of maintenance problems and work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and efficiency.

Requirements and Physical Demands:

To be successful in this role, you will need a High School Diploma and machine shop courses either in high school or through skilled trade. While performing the duties of this job, you will regularly stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and climb or balance. You will frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. You will also be required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
