Job Summary

As a Pilot Rotor Wing Specialist with Air Methods, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area. This role requires a high level of expertise in aviation and medical procedures, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner, adhering to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough pre-flight checks to ensure the aircraft is airworthy, and complete post-flight documentation.
  • Collaborate with medical flight teams to ensure a smooth and efficient transportation process.
  • Participate in regular meetings and activities to stay up-to-date on company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, and two to five years of related experience.
  • Commercial and Instrument Rating for category and class of aircraft.
  • First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate required.
  • Ability to maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds and be less than 70 years old.
  • Skills in category for a commercial operator or military within the previous 24 months.
Visual Flight Rules (VFR) Program
  • 2000 total flight hours with a minimum of 1500 flight hours in category.
  • 1000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) in category.
  • 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time.
  • 200 hours of cross-country flight time, at least 50 hours of which were at night.
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC (50 hours of unaided can be substituted for by 100 hours of NVG time, but cannot be reduced below 50 hours of unaided time).
  • 50 hours total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category.
