About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sewer System Evaluation Survey (SSES) Field Technician to join our team at McKim & Creed, Inc. As a key member of our Civil Engineering Water/Wastewater design projects, you will be responsible for conducting data collection activities associated with the completion of a typical SSES related project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field inspections and investigations by collecting high-quality and accurate data.
  • Manhole Inspections - record various structure attributes and identify defects.
  • Smoke Testing - conduct smoke tests and record defects encountered.
  • Night Flow Isolations - measure wastewater flows during non-peak usage.
  • Dye Testing - conduct dye water tracing and dye water flooding.
  • Flow Monitoring - install & maintain open channel flow metering equipment.
  • CCTV Inspections – conduct robotic video inspections of wastewater sewer pipelines in accordance to NASSCO PACP, MACP, and LACP standards.
  • Frequent overnight travel is required.
  • This position requires a lot of walking outside and climbing ladders year-round through various terrain and in extreme heat and cold.
  • Ability to work in Confined Spaces, including sanitary sewer manholes.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Willing to work in and around open sanitary sewer lines.
  • Have the ability to obtain and maintain a Confined Space Entry certification.
  • Should possess basic computer skills.
  • Good technical skills.
  • Valid drivers license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS and/or Trimble Products is preferred.
  • Previous SSES experience preferred but not required.
