Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to underwriting directives and authority through thorough account collaborations and audits.
  • Work closely with leadership to assess training needs and develop comprehensive training plans.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to the underwriting team, fostering quality and expertise in underwriting practices.
  • Design and deliver training programs tailored for underwriters within the commercial transportation sector.
  • Collaborate with various support functions, including Product, Actuarial, Claims, and IT, to ensure our offerings are compliant and competitive.
  • Support staff development through effective leadership, relationship building, and creating a motivating work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of pricing models suitable for diverse commercial lines.
  • Assist in the management of reinsurance placements and monitoring processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience totaling 16 years.
  • Extensive knowledge of various insurance coverages and business lines.
  • Familiarity with underwriting guidelines and industry standards.
  • Strong risk assessment capabilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial reporting and policy development.
  • In-depth knowledge of the insurance sector, including regulations and compliance.
  • Proficient in making informed underwriting decisions.
  • Ability to apply advanced loss analysis concepts for optimal risk pricing.
  • Excellent mathematical skills, along with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring future visa sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree.
  • Specialized underwriting knowledge in moving, storage, and long-haul trucking.
