Summary of Responsibilities:

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for implementing and facilitating reliability principles and processes. This role provides essential direction and technical expertise aimed at achieving and maintaining optimal reliability and maintainability of assets while minimizing life cycle costs.

The Reliability Engineer conducts studies, develops plans, and performs evaluations and performance assessments. This position also involves creating cost estimates and budgets, as well as offering consultation and recommendations to the organization and various business units.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical consultation in reliability, work management, and business administration.
  • Assisting in the financial justification of equipment reliability enhancements using tools such as Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and risk analysis.
  • Facilitating the implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Integrating field equipment monitoring and associated data into health management systems.
  • Conducting equipment criticality assessments and reviewing existing rankings as business needs evolve.
  • Staying updated on technological advancements and recommending implementations based on criticality and associated risks.
  • Monitoring asset performance and maintaining critical spare parts strategies.
  • Performing detailed studies on equipment and process failures and presenting findings to management.
  • Developing and maintaining procedures for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Utilizing business analytics tools to visualize and manage operational data.

Education and Experience:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program. A preferred candidate will possess 3-5 years of relevant experience, particularly in utility sectors or as a reliability engineer within a formal asset management framework.

  • Knowledge of engineering principles and business environments.
  • Experience in leading meetings and projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, including operation manuals and schematics.
  • Understanding of utility operations and maintenance practices.
  • Capability to devise innovative solutions to technical challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams to enhance operations and maintenance practices.
  • Skill in managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines under pressure.

Licenses and Certifications:
A valid driver's license is required. Certifications such as Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Reliability Leader, or Certified Reliability Engineer are preferred.
