Position Summary:

The Insurance Authorization Specialist is tasked with providing essential onsite assistance at designated healthcare facilities, ensuring effective support for the screening team. This role involves the critical responsibility of verifying patient eligibility for admission and facilitating the submission of necessary documentation to insurance providers for treatment authorization. Additionally, the specialist will assess copayment amounts and any relevant information regarding patient financial obligations during their stay. This information will be communicated to the screening team and associated healthcare entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and evaluate potential candidates for nursing home placement while confirming insurance coverage.
  • Submit required documentation to authorization entities to secure approval for patient stays.
  • Provide updates on authorization statuses, including both approvals and denials, to all relevant parties.
  • Engage with hospital personnel, including social workers and discharge planners, regarding patient discharge timelines.
  • Assist screening team members with various tasks as needed.
  • Research patient financial responsibility information and communicate findings to relevant teams.
  • Establish and nurture professional relationships with hospital staff.
  • This position requires onsite presence at a healthcare facility.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in the healthcare sector.
  • Preferred: Over 2 years of experience in insurance or authorization roles.
  • Preferred: Experience with long-term care reimbursement.
