Job Summary:

The Community School Social Worker will be responsible for overseeing social work interns and managing social work aspects across the community school. This includes integrating trauma and healing-informed practices into programming, communicating with the leadership team, and building rapport with participants.

Responsibilities:
  • Integrate trauma and healing-informed practices into programming
  • Routinely communicate with the leadership team on issues students are facing
  • Build rapport with participants, foster participant engagement, and facilitate periodic one-on-ones
  • Maintain confidential case files and document ongoing assessments
  • Identify areas for growth, plan and track interventions, and strategize with social work interns and staff to address students' unmet needs
  • Access assistance for participants through referrals to community resources and refer participants for additional services as needed
  • Establish connections with other agencies to build a robust referral network and identify opportunities for collaboration
  • Oversee and train the team of social work interns to work with participants and staff
  • Ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Co-create and implement the community school mental health work plan and support the day-to-day administrative functioning of student mental health services
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) required
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required
  • At least three years of experience in early childhood and youth development
  • At least four years of experience in social work in a school setting
  • Strong communication skills, critical thinking, and active listening skills
  • Experience with group work and supervisory or management experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
Working Conditions:

Work takes place at PS/MS 57 Public School or their designated summer relocation site. Travel via public transportation or car may be required throughout NYC.
