Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain a range of scientific instruments utilized for materials synthesis and analysis (e.g., X-ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy, etc.)
- Design and manage support systems for instrumentation, encompassing vacuum systems, thermal controls, and exhaust mechanisms
- Coordinate periodic maintenance, either personally or through external vendors
- Collaborate with the data management team to implement a tracking system for instrument upkeep and early failure detection
- Partner with automation specialists and instrument scientists to develop and document calibration protocols
- Assist in executing calibration procedures and general instrument operations as required
- Evaluate, document, and present experimental findings to the research team
- Practical experience with scientific instruments, including x-ray, vacuum, and chemical handling technologies
- Proficient in the maintenance and safe operation of vacuum systems and lasers
- Skilled in repairing mechanical and electrical components of scientific devices
- Experience in developing standard operating procedures for scientific equipment
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline
- Self-motivated and independent thinker with a keen eye for detail
- Strong communication and presentation abilities, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly
- Enthusiastic about collaborating with skilled teams in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
- Familiarity with scanning probe microscopy and/or nanoindentation methods
- Experience in automating experimental processes
- Proficiency in computer programming
