Description

HealthPoint is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join their team. The core role is to provide support and guidance to individuals with substance use disorders, helping them maintain recovery and live productive lives.
  • Assist clients in developing self-help, crisis/coping, and social skills.
  • Facilitate sober activities to help individuals in recovery learn socialization skills without relying on substances.
  • Mentor those in recovery by listening without judgment and sharing strategies for managing life in recovery.
  • Monitor clients' behavior, schedules, medication, and activities.
  • Report any unusual behavior, conflicts, or recovery deviations to relevant professionals.
  • Conduct assessments and provide feedback to clients, medical professionals, and other relevant parties.
  • Salary Range: $16-$18 per hour.
  • Nine paid federal holidays.

HealthPoint Family Care is a private primary care medical, women's health, pediatrics, dental, and mental health practice located in Northern and Central Kentucky. The organization employs over 170 highly qualified physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, and support staff dedicated to providing care for children, adolescents, and adults.

Qualifications

  • Current or past diagnosis of a mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Received or receiving treatment.
  • Minimum educational requirement: high school diploma or General Equivalence Diploma (GED) certificate.
  • Demonstrate a pattern of recovery from a mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Not yet a certified Peer Support Specialist but complete the training (paid for by HealthPoint) within the first 10 days of employment.
  • Proven work experience as a Peer Support Specialist or similar role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge about resilience, recovery, and wellness.
  • Attitude consistent with a recovery and wellness orientation.
  • Highly compassionate and attentive to details.
  • Ability to be on call for emergencies and work on weekends and public holidays.
