Ultrasound Technologist Job Description

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Position patients and select technical factors and equipment to obtain optimal quality scans.
  • Operate portable ultrasound equipment to perform procedures as requested throughout the hospital.
  • Assist physicians with recommendations for obtaining optimal studies by suggesting technical factors for procedures.
  • Deliver patient care and maintain department standards of continued quality improvement.
  • Prepare ultrasound rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize appropriate phone etiquette and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Transport patients as needed and maintain a timely flow of patients in room assignments or work areas.
  • Document department records, including inventories of supplies and patient statistics.
  • Maintain correct patient records and assemble daily patient schedules.
  • Prepare ultrasound rooms and operate Hospital Information Computer Systems as required.
  • Obtain patient history and work closely with radiologists to ensure optimal outcomes for each procedure.
  • Comply with established Accrediting Organization and hospital safety standards.
  • Maintain annual CPR certification and operate equipment safely.
Requirements:
  • ARDMS Registry eligible.
  • ARDMS Registry to be successfully completed within the first year of employment.
  • Possess high technical knowledge to perform specialized U/S studies with minimal assistance.
  • Able to make diagnostic judgments and present them to radiologists for interpretation.
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to adjust to flexible hours and work odd hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform lifting activities related to patients.
  • Exposed to radiation and able to operate portable equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with patients and maintain patient confidentiality.
