Distinguishing Career Features

The Instructional Assistant - Title I is a critical role that requires advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with diverse student populations, including students who are economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, English learners, migrant students, and homeless and foster youth. This position is typically assigned to a range of environments, assisting targeted students to help them meet challenging academic standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students in reinforcing reading and math skills to support Title I targeted assisted or schoolwide improvement programs.
  • Work with students to ensure attaining and maintaining academic success.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to provide support and resources to students.
  • Develop and implement instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse student populations.
  • Provide physical and emotional support to students, as needed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the Instructional Assistant - Title I must have a high school diploma and 48 units at an institution of higher education, or an associate's degree or higher. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience working with students in a educational setting and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
