Position Summary: The role involves overseeing infrastructure and right of way construction initiatives to ensure adherence to established plans, specifications, as well as state and federal regulations, while maintaining safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of construction operations to verify compliance with plans and standards
- Examine documentation and technical specifications
- Engage with contractors to address any issues
- Perform tests on water and sewer lines to ensure compliance
- Advise on the acceptance of project milestones
- Uphold safety regulations on construction sites
- Keep detailed inspection records
- Assess construction plans for compliance
- Support departmental operations through consistent attendance
- Maintain a mobile device for official use
- Exhibit courteous conduct with the public and departmental staff
Required Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory; experience in general construction inspection or relevant technical training is preferred.
Knowledge Required:
- Ability to read engineering plans and construction specifications
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations governing construction projects
- Understanding of safety measures for construction environments
- Proficiency in inspection methods for infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of materials and tools utilized in public works initiatives
- Awareness of local geography and Public Works Department facilities
Skills Required:
- Comprehension of plans, specifications, and schematics
- Ability to maintain accurate records and files
- Enforcement of safe working practices
- Capability to foster collaborative relationships
- Proficiency in operating business software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Licensing and Certification: A valid Texas State Driver's License is required. Additional technical training and certifications may be necessary.
Work Environment: The position involves working in both an office setting and outdoor construction sites, with potential exposure to safety hazards.
