Job Description

The Retail Category Manager position is a hands-on role that involves overseeing all aspects of sports and local product categories across multiple stores. Key responsibilities include:




  • Product selection and forecasting: Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Assortment planning: Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement product strategies that meet customer needs and drive sales.
  • Trend analysis: Stay up-to-date on the latest sports and local trends to ensure our product offerings are aligned with consumer demand.
  • Vendor negotiations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure the best possible prices and terms.
  • Inventory management: Oversee inventory levels, allocation, and logistics to ensure seamless fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Reporting and analysis: Provide regular sales and inventory reports to inform business decisions and drive continuous improvement.


As a Retail Category Manager, you will be responsible for driving business results, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and meeting deadlines. Your analytical skills, creative passion for sports, and deep interest in statistics will enable you to thrive in this role.



Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this position, you will need:




  • 2+ years of experience in buying or merchandising roles, preferably in the retail industry.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience in data analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business, marketing, or retail management.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Rally House offers a competitive compensation package, including an annual salary range of $55,000 to $70,000, depending on experience. Additional benefits include:

Location

This role is based in an office environment, with occasional travel to stores and vendor meetings required. Must be able to stand and walk; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; differentiate colors. Must have the ability to lift and small carry parcels, packages and other items up to 25lbs, and to walk short distances.
