As the Lead Principal for Healthcare Architecture, you will steer the overall direction of the Health sector in the local region and be part of the leading Healthcare team in the industry.

The ideal candidate must possess the drive, expertise, and charisma necessary to secure new projects and oversee significant health initiatives.

The primary focus will be on expanding and developing the health architecture practice in the local and surrounding areas.

The Lead Principal will concentrate on establishing and winning new business relationships and opportunities with health organizations and related institutions in the local and regional markets.

Additionally, this role will supervise health projects in a senior leadership capacity and engage in sector management as part of the local leadership team.

Leadership and Business Development Responsibilities:


Manage Health Sector Goals - Collaborate closely with the local office Managing Principal and leadership to ensure that the health sector meets the business objectives for the firm from local, regional, and national perspectives.

Collaborate with Health Sector Leadership - Partner with the East Region Health Director and firmwide health leaders to implement key initiatives, investments, and strategies for growth and practice development, secure new project work, generate thought leadership, and contribute to local office profitability.

Grow Local Health Sector Team - In conjunction with office health leadership and staff, cultivate a well-rounded, multidisciplinary team; assess staffing capabilities; recruit, develop, and maintain expertise to ensure a balanced and design-driven top-tier health practice.

Build Client Relationships - Forge strong client relationships and act as a key client relationship manager on projects.

Demonstrate Local Leadership - Engage as a health thought leader in professional organizations, activities, and services in and around the region that advance the firm's vision, value, and relationships.

Represent and Advance the Firm - Enhance awareness and understanding within the community of the firm's health practice on local, regional, and national levels.

Business Development and Marketing - Regularly coordinate with the Managing Principal and the East Region Health Director on all business development, marketing, and practice growth initiatives.

Identify, qualify, and develop business leads. Formulate effective capture plans to convert leads into successful projects.

Coordinate, collaborate, and cooperate with local leadership and leverage their roles to build teamwork and maximize the effectiveness of all business development and marketing efforts.

Proposal Writing - Lead and oversee the analysis of RFQs and RFPs and the development of written proposal responses.

Craft and write proposals while ensuring the timely completion of qualifications packages and proposals with all contributing parties, both internal and external to the firm.

Interviews and Presentations - Direct the development of interview presentation strategies, messaging, and all team preparations for successful presentations and interviews.

Regional Teamwork - Collaborate with other health leaders, marketing staff, and design professionals throughout the firm, particularly within the firm's East Region, to build relationships and secure work.

Progress Tracking - Monitor marketing progress, performance indicators, marketing report accuracy, budgets and costs, risk management, and manage progress within assigned marketing resource allocations.


Project Delivery Responsibilities:


Direct and coordinate the work of single or multidisciplinary teams throughout the project's lifecycle, from development and initiation to close-out. Responsible for any project assignment, regardless of size, visibility, number of disciplines, technical complexity, or number of staff.

Manage multiple projects concurrently.
Establish client relations and participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders.
Coordinate staffing and workload throughout the entire project lifecycle and ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust work efforts with the team to ensure that work is completed within the agreed-upon budget and schedule.

Collaborate with Accounting, Operational, and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.
Implement QA/QC procedures.
Supervise large project teams and mentor less-experienced Project Managers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • 15 years of relevant experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of project management experience
  • Registered Architect
  • Experience with large-scale health projects is essential
  • Ability to lead a team on projects and deliver client presentations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience within the local and regional health market
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, motivational, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • A commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is essential

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED
  • Advanced credentialing (e.g., ACHA, EDAC, LEED, etc.)
  • PMP certification
