Job Summary

This position is responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of motor vehicles and equipment for the International Boundary and Water Commission. The ideal candidate will have experience in operating heavy equipment, performing maintenance tasks, and ensuring the safe operation of vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain a variety of motor vehicles and equipment, including trucks, tractors, and generators
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and performing repairs
  • Ensure the safe operation of vehicles and equipment, adhering to OSHA regulations and principles
  • Load, arrange, and secure cargo on tractor-trailer combinations
  • Assist in making repairs and adjustments to equipment through maintenance checks and repair services
  • Perform operator maintenance, including servicing vehicle braking systems and checking vehicle lights
Requirements
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with hazardous materials (HAZ-MAT) endorsement
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 44 pounds unassisted, and over 44 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to loud noise, vibration, dirt, gaseous fumes, cleaning solvents, oil, grease, and machines with dangerous moving parts
  • Ability to sustain periods of substantial walking, bending, stooping, standing, crouching, stretching, and reaching
Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will be able to work in a variety of environments, including outdoors in all types of weather conditions, and in geographically remote areas. The position will require frequent exposure to drafts, changing temperatures, dirt, dust, grease, solvents, chemical fumes, noise, heights, slippery and uneven surfaces, and open waterways.
