As an intern on our operations team, you will have the opportunity to partner with management to work on special projects, streamlining day-to-day operations, including timely receipt, stocking, order filling, and shipment of merchandise.
Job Summary
As an Operations Excellence Intern, you will be responsible for collaborating with management to drive process improvements and enhance operational efficiency. You will assist in managing and streamlining day-to-day operations, including receiving, stocking, order fulfillment, and shipment of merchandise. Your duties may also include supervising employees operating rolling stock equipment and automated equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead start-up meetings to communicate daily volume and safety topics to team members.
- Utilize Standard Operating Procedures to resolve and correct problems, communicating issues to management for the assigned department.
- Identify areas for improvement using the Productivity Improvement Plan process.
- Review quality metrics and report status to management for the assigned department.
- Maintain positive employee relations and update employee records on a daily basis.
- Support safety initiatives to reduce employee injuries.
- Report weekly to management on project status and overall performance.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need strong attention to detail, demonstrated employee relations skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills. You should be proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. A strong analytical mindset and self-motivation are essential, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. You will need to be willing to work in a team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Qualifications
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field. Analytical skills and the ability to work independently are essential. You should be proficient in Microsoft Office tools and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions
This role requires the ability to physically move throughout the distribution center to monitor merchandise flow. You will be exposed to varying lighting conditions, noise, and dust. Some heavy lifting, bending, and stooping may be required to assist employees when necessary.
Compensation and Benefits
New Hire Starting Pay Rate: $20.50* Eligible for shift differential pay rates.
