Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Production Evaporator Operator is responsible for the safe operation of various machinery and equipment utilized in the manufacturing process. This role involves supporting upstream processing and participating in occasional projects, including monitoring processes and conducting routine sample analyses. The operator plays a crucial role in ensuring that production aligns with established daily and weekly schedules.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up, monitor, and maintain production machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure continuous production flow by troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Conduct regular sampling, labeling, and testing of products at intervals of 30-60 minutes.
  • Maintain the evaporator and comply with stringent Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Perform inspections of evaporators, which may require climbing ladders and accessing confined spaces, while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Obtain necessary permits for confined space entry and demonstrate proficiency in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position is situated within a manufacturing setting, which may involve exposure to chemicals and varying temperature conditions. The role requires the ability to work the third shift from 6 PM to 6 AM, with the potential for overtime, off-shift work, and weekend shifts as needed.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience is necessary.
  • Ability to work independently while setting priorities and making informed decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of FDA regulations, Food and Plant Safety, and adherence to HACCP protocols, GMPs, and SOPs.
  • Familiarity with production equipment and processes is essential.
  • Experience with ERP, MES, MRP, or Shop Manufacturing Systems is advantageous.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift weights ranging from 50 to 60 pounds repetitively.
  • Capability to climb stairs and ladders as required.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking are necessary.
  • Repetitive bending, twisting, and kneeling may be involved.
  • Visual acuity is required for reading instructions, operating machinery, and inspecting products.
  • Ability to work in high-temperature environments and tolerate prolonged heat exposure.
