About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Appraisal Review Officer to join our Credit Department at Customers Bank. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the credibility and compliance of third-party reports regarding real property taken as collateral.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of submitted Real Estate Appraisal Reports to ensure their credibility, compliance with USPAP, and conformity to bank engagement letters, policy, and Interagency Guidelines.
  • Mediation and Issue Resolution: Mediate and resolve issues between Loan Production Teams and valuation vendors to maintain independence and impartiality in the collateral evaluation process.
  • Support and Collaboration: Provide support to Credit Officers and Analysts regarding aspects of third-party reports, including presentation and conclusions.
  • Vendor Management: Assist in maintaining approved vendor lists, ensuring that the best firms are selected to provide third-party reports to Customers Bank, and that all certifications and insurance declarations are current.
  • Environmental Due Diligence: Review environmental due diligence reports to evaluate and provide advisement to Loan Production Teams regarding possible short and long-term risks.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Generate and populate in-house logging forms, reports, and studies.
Requirements
  • Experience: Must be an experienced Certified General Real Estate Appraiser with a background valuing a wide variety of property types and rights.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of USPAP and Federal Interagency Appraisal Guidelines (FIRREA), superior written and verbal communication skills, ability to analyze complex valuation presentations, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Personal Qualities: Proactive individual with excellent time management skills, ability to work independently and efficiently, and capacity to prioritize work during busy periods.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Preferred Experience: Prior experience at a financial institution is a plus.
