Plant Operations Director

Job Summary

As a key member of the Life Care team, the Director of Plant Operations will oversee the care and maintenance of our community's physical plant. This includes developing and implementing an effective preventative maintenance program, supervising plant and housekeeping employees, and coordinating life safety and security programs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Plant Operations Department, including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, and counseling employees within established policies and procedures.
• Maintain equipment, building, utilities, and grounds with an adequate preventative maintenance program, arranging for maintenance contracts as necessary.
• Ensure all equipment and systems function properly and safely, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and ordinances.
• Provide residents and staff with a timely and effective response to service requests.
• Participate in the planning of the annual departmental budget, responsible for maintaining all expenditures within budget allowances, reviewing monthly operating statements for accuracy, and explaining variances to budget.

Requirements

• High School diploma
• Associates Degree or equivalent in relevant education, training, and experience
• At least five years of experience in plant engineering and/or trades, such as plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, refrigeration, ground maintenance, masonry, or maintenance. Three years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, or governmental regulations, and ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, and ability to effectively communicate with and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
• Previous experience in the healthcare field and/or with an elderly population is preferred, as is knowledge of fire safety and MSDS training.
