At Visionworks, we are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Retail Licensed Optician to join our team. As a key member of our optical team, you will be responsible for assisting customers with frame selection, fitting, and dispensing frames, while providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a seamless shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist customers with frame selection, fitting, and dispensing frames, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Provide accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections, and other services, ensuring customers make informed purchasing decisions.
- Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and establish proper lens recommendations based on patient needs.
- Analyze and interpret patients' prescriptions, communicating as necessary with the Lab and Optometrist to ensure accuracy.
- Sell, fit, and dispense frames and other accessories through the use of accurate measurements, verification of ordered products, and adjustments of various optical products.
- Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area, adhering to company standards and protocols.
- Responsible for the accuracy of customer pricing for the retail customer.
- Maintain license requirements per State Guidelines.
- Provide feedback and guidance to Apprentice Opticians, as required.
- Adhere to privacy and confidential and proprietary company policies and procedures (i.e. HIPAA).
- Participate in any/all training and educational activities necessary to fulfill at least the minimum requirements as specified within your departmental goals.
- Maintain the cleanliness of all equipment, workstations, and the overall facility on a daily basis.
- Current New York State Ophthalmic dispensing license.
- Knowledge and demonstrated abilities in explaining optical products, services, the analysis and interpretation of optical prescriptions, fitting, and dispensing.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.
- Mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The noise level in this location is moderate (use of computers, printers, and machines).

Union Position Compensation: Position provides competitive pay and benefits. Specific terms are set forth in the Company's collective bargaining agreement with a minimum pay rate of $25 per hour plus incentive. Starting pay may vary based on experience to a maximum of $27.50 per hour. Incentive pay, wage upgrades, and overtime opportunities also available.
