Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Yard Foreman to oversee and direct the activities of yard personnel at Spenard Builders Supply. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, safe and efficient movement of goods and equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of yard personnel, including loading, unloading, and movement of materials, to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, load limits, and safety regulations.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new yard employees, including product knowledge and safety procedures.
  • Perform tasks such as receiving and storing yard materials, preparing bills of lading, and reconciling inventory.
  • Ensure that outside areas are kept neat and clean, and that scraps and yard debris are properly recycled or disposed of.
  • Assist customers with loading and load building, and provide delivery status information and inventory availability.
  • Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices, and ensure that employees follow all safety protocols to prevent injuries or damage.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and four years of experience in yard or manufacturing activities.
  • Working knowledge of yard and product activities, including component or materials weights and methods of loading.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate work processes to maintain and increase manpower and equipment efficiency.
  • Advanced knowledge of operation and handling of machinery and equipment used in the yard.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to speak before teams and work groups.
Work Environment

This role is performed primarily in an outdoor yard environment, subject to variations in temperature and weather, equipment noise, and dust. The successful candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds, and may be required to perform tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling.
