Patient Care Associate Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled Patient Care Associate to join our team at Mass General Brigham. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out patient care plans as directed by registered nurses.
• Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linens, according to established guidelines.
• Assist with patient monitoring activities, such as vital signs and blood glucose checks, as per established protocols.
• Prepare patients for meals and assist with meeting their needs as required.
• Perform patient rounds regularly and respond promptly to call lights to meet patient needs.
• Document patient care in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.
• Maintain patient rooms in a clean and organized environment, optimizing space and promoting a safe environment.
• Collect and label specimens consistent with established procedures.
• Provide mentoring and teaching to new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
• Participate in departmental, organizational, or network activities as required by established objectives.
• Uphold Mass General Brigham's Organizational Values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required unless the candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
• Experience/Certification: Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care are required. Preference may be given to candidates enrolled in a nursing, pre-med, or physician assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire, or those possessing a valid license, certification, or enrollment in a nursing assistant, medical assistant, mental health technician, or EMT-accredited program.
• Skills: Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills in English, basic math and computer science skills, and the ability to perform, modify, and record all physical therapy skills with relevance to appropriate thoroughness and sequencing. Healthcare Provider CPR certification is required, and knowledge of DPH/OEMS regulations is preferred.
