Job Summary

This is a senior-level position that requires a strong leader with excellent technical, operational, financial, and managerial skills. The successful candidate will oversee strategic priorities and projects, develop and maintain priorities and project management methodologies, and provide strategic leadership to ensure successful implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and technical, operational, financial, and managerial leadership for successful implementation of priorities and project activities.
  • Ensure that strategic priorities and projects produce the specified results in the annual workplan(s) to the required standard of quality and within the timeline and budget parameters.
  • Oversee strategic priorities and project pipeline development and budget monitoring.
  • Conduct regular reviews to ensure accountability of all strategic priorities and projects activities and accurate and timely reporting.
  • Coordinate and complete strategic priorities and projects on time within budget and within scope.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each strategic priority and project are compatible.
  • Serve as a key member of the Superintendent's executive cabinet, acting as a thought leader and spokesperson on behalf of Hamilton County Schools.
  • Anticipate and assure that appropriate plans are in place and executed for Superintendent meetings and events.
  • Facilitate external relationships with community groups, policymakers, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • Interact with government, community, industry officials and the Board of Education in the representation and development of strategic program initiatives.
  • Participate with the Superintendent and other senior staff in strategic planning, policy development and problem resolution of complex issues and needs.
  • Assist with matters related to policy development, legislation intergovernmental relations and lobbying with exceptional analytical communication skills.
  • Manage change to the strategic priority and project scope and schedule.
  • Develop detailed strategic priorities project plans to monitor and track progress.
  • Assist in the definition of strategic priorities and project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to communicate strategic priorities and plans.
  • Serve as liaison between executive cabinet and a variety of stakeholders regarding strategic priorities and projects.
  • Perform an array of administrative tasks from managing strategic priorities and projects, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings.
  • Collaborate with executive team members to determine and prioritize strategies.
  • Provide department leaders with recommendations and consultation to improve communications and alignment to strategic priorities.
  • Bring together multiple stakeholders and help drive decisions.
  • Coordinate strategic meetings with key stakeholders to move strategic priorities forward and maintain strong relationships.
  • Research, benchmark, analyze data, and make recommendations.
  • Work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Attend work as scheduled and arrive to work on time.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Comply with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Adhere to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law and Code of Professional Conduct as defined by Board Policy
  • Use computers and other technology to enter and access information related to essential job functions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's or advanced degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of work experience that includes progressively responsible management/leadership-level experience.
  • Experience managing, designing, implementing, and evaluating strategic plan implementation.
  • Substantial experience in strategic projects and communication preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
