Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Bluffs Family Health Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support services.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient care and treatments, ensuring the highest level of patient satisfaction and safety.
  • Order, assemble, and administer diagnostic and lab tests to patients, maintaining accurate records and results.
  • Welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, and answering or referring inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Prepare patients for healthcare visits by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room, providing examination gowns and drapes, and helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment.
  • Verify patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing and/or recording medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming the purpose of the visit or treatment.
  • Support patient care delivery by helping healthcare providers during examinations, preparing laboratory specimens, performing basic laboratory tests on the premises, disposing of contaminated supplies, sterilizing medical instruments, administering medications on the premises, authorizing drug refills as directed, telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies, drawing blood, preparing patients for x-rays, taking electrocardiograms, removing sutures, and changing dressings.
  • Educate patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions, answering questions, and promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Complete records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient files.
  • Generate revenues by recording billing information of services rendered, completing insurance forms, and responding to insurance and other third-party inquiries.
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt, ensuring that all necessary supplies are available and in stock.
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and promoting a culture of safety and respect.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential and adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve and protect the healthcare practice by adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhance healthcare practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments, and promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • EMR systems: 1 year of experience
  • Vital signs: 1 year of experience
  • Phlebotomy: 2 years of experience
