We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Methodist Health System. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Responsibilities- Prepare patients for examination by reviewing medical records, weighing patients, checking vital signs, and performing medication reconciliation.
- Assist providers with entering medication, laboratory, and radiology orders, as well as scheduling diagnostic tests.
- Perform phlebotomy, injections, and other clinical procedures as directed by providers.
- Document all lab, procedures, and appointments on tracking forms and complete tracking forms and follow up on missed appointments and procedures.
- Provide patient and family education to ensure adequate knowledge and awareness, and recommend appropriate community resources as needed.
- Answer phone calls, return phone messages, and provide test results according to protocol.
- Accurately complete pharmacy requests and handle prescription refills according to department/provider protocols.
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
- Successful completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- 6 months previous medical assistant experience preferred.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
