The Medical Assistant works as part of the medical office team, performing clinical and clerical duties to prepare patients for visits and make reappointments as necessary.
Responsibilities- Obtain medical and social history, vital signs, and measurements as needed
- Clean, stock, and sterilize equipment and rooms
- Prepare specimens for processing
- Ensure patient confidentiality and provide necessary information
- Pull, prepare, and file medical charts, maintaining smooth patient flow
- Gather patient information, record charges, and complete encounter forms
- Prepare routine procedures, including EKGs, PPD placements/readings, and immunizations
- Assist providers with complex procedures, including minor surgeries
- Distribute medication to patients as directed by nursing staff and/or providers
- Schedule appointments and complete necessary paperwork
- Check laboratory controls, receive results, and draw blood
- Current Medical Assistant Registration or graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Bilingual (Spanish) skills desired
- CNA certificate minimum
- High school diploma or GED required
