We are seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Educator who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young children.

Schedule: Monday through Friday

Purpose & Impact:
As a lead educator in a Head Start or Early Head Start classroom, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experiences of preschool-aged children or infants/toddlers, ensuring compliance with federal performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement engaging daily lesson plans that foster educational and enrichment activities for young children.
  • Organize classrooms into distinct learning areas that encourage effective learning.
  • Assess children's developmental and educational needs, creating individualized education plans that align with federal standards.
  • Oversee meal and snack times, classroom activities, and outdoor play to maintain a safe environment.
  • Document children's progress and complete all necessary reports in accordance with federal requirements.
  • Coordinate classroom activities for parent and community volunteers.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and classroom activities.
  • Conduct health checks on children and report any concerns to the appropriate health coordinator.
  • Ensure alignment of lessons and activities with the Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Standards.
  • Conduct assessments as required to ensure children are prepared for kindergarten.
  • Maintain a comprehensive portfolio for each child, including observations and developmental assessments.
  • Plan and oversee field trips for children.
  • Ensure classroom safety and cleanliness, conducting regular inspections.
  • Participate in workshops and meetings to enhance professional development.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent coursework with experience in teaching preschool-aged children.
  • At least two years of experience in teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, preschool, or kindergarten.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is required within 90 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of a Level II background screening and health assessments prior to hiring.

Skills:
  • Knowledge of child development and early learning principles.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with children and families.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and community partners.
