Position Summary

We are in search of a Mechanic for our 3rd Shift Maintenance Team. The designated hours for this shift are from 11 PM to 7 AM, Sunday through Thursday. The Mechanic A role is pivotal in executing intricate repairs with minimal oversight, ensuring the optimal functioning of on-site machinery and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues, performing repairs and setting up machinery across all filling, packaging, mixing, and assembly areas.
  • Identify and rectify problems, which may involve disassembling, replacing, and reassembling machinery within the department.
  • Mentor and oversee junior mechanics, routinely assessing their work quality.
  • Conduct regular and preventive maintenance on all machinery and facility equipment, adhering to the established maintenance schedule.
  • Execute advanced electrical, plumbing, welding, and carpentry tasks as required.
  • Utilize machine tools effectively, creating fixtures and parts as necessary.
  • Interpret technical drawings and schematics to pinpoint issues and determine the most effective corrective actions.
  • Employ a multimeter for troubleshooting both high-voltage and low-voltage systems.
  • Complete necessary documentation related to daily tasks and projects.
  • Initiate complex work orders and report any abnormal machine conditions to the relevant personnel.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Compensation

The pay rate ranges from $26 to $31 per hour, contingent upon prior experience. A shift differential of $1 per hour is applicable for the 3rd shift.

Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED is required, along with 3 to 5 years of relevant technical trade experience.
  • A strong foundation in industrial electrical systems is highly preferred.
  • Experience with controls (PLC, Air Logic), as well as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, is essential, along with the ability to read and interpret machine assembly drawings and schematics.
  • Capability to troubleshoot I/O controls (24VDC, 120VAC) using a multimeter to identify electrical or component issues.
  • This role necessitates standing or walking for nearly the entire shift, with the ability to lift over 50 pounds, as well as perform bending, climbing, and twisting motions, which constitute approximately 35% of the working shift.
  • Prior experience operating motorized equipment (tow motor, low lift) is highly desirable.
  • Manual dexterity is crucial for tasks involving grasping, pulling, pushing, and twisting motions.
  • Environmental factors include exposure to heat/cold, dust, chemicals, noise, and heights.
  • This position involves handling chemicals, some of which may be hazardous, requiring proper training, protective equipment, and adherence to safety practices.
